Modified Moeller Hand Motion
This is the hand emotion that was taught to me by Freddie Gruber and described as a modified Moeller technique. Especially emphasizing the Release in the wrist required to make a proper Upstroke. This motion was applied to our rudimental studies in the Buddy Rich book. Also, accent studies on the snare drum and around the drum set using Ted Reed’s Syncopation. As well as many other books.
Feel free to contact me for private instruction.
* the verbiage Freddie used often changed from Down Tap Up to Strike Tap Release etc. Concentrate on the hand movements and what feels right.
Also included a photo of my Buddy Rich book describing this hand motion written in the book by Freddie Gruber. As well as one of my earliest lessons written on manuscript paper by Freddie describing the motion.
A breakdown of the hand motion required to play a modified Moeller technique as taught to me by Freddie Gruber. This approach will dramatically improve your speed, sound, and options for phrasing. An emphasis will be put on the tip down Release of the Up Stroke.
